Standard 5: Uses a variety of methods to monitor student learning.
a. Aligns classroom assessment with instruction.
Below is the observation form, completed by my building administrator, from an observed lesson in November of 2016. This clearly outlines that my instruction aligns with my assessments.
b. Communicates assessment criteria and standards to all students and parents.
I use a variety of platforms to communicate assessment criteria and standards to students and parents. I use Google Classroom to communicate expectations, assignments, and rubrics to students and parents. I also often send home notes to parents, which outline standards being met. I also provide academic information to students and parents through Edublog.
c. Understands and uses the results of multiple assessments to guide planning and instruction.
I use MAP and ITBS scores to make decisions on texts for my students. I also use formative assessments to tailor instruction. I use formative assessment data to make decisions regarding differentiation and re-teaching. Below is a formative assessment and a summative assessment. These are similarly formatted. The formative assessment was used to assess students’ knowledge of main idea and then I used that data to provide a mini-lesson before the summative assessment.
d. Guides students in goal setting and assessing their own learning.
e. Provides substantive, timely, and constructive feedback to students and parents.
One way I am able to provide feedback is by using Kidblog. Below you can see the number of comments I have left for my 4/5 block. Also, below that is a small portion of the comment log. I am able to update parents by using Infinite Campus, Google Classroom, and Edublog. The Edublog and Google Classroom links are above, under the standard 5.b.
f. Works with other staff and building and distrcit leadership in analysis of student progress.
Below is portion of a PLC agenda. I work alongside 7th grade language arts teachers to prioritize standards, assess those standards, and analyze results.
