Standard 1: Demonstrates ability to enhance academic performance and support for implementation of the school districts student achievement goals.
a. Provides multiple forms of evidence of student learning and growth to students, families, and staff.
Above you can see the data center in my classroom. The goal is set by each of my classes at the beginning of the year. I update the board with summative assessments, and we reflect on these results as a class.
Above is a small portion of my access log from Infinte Campus, the grading system. It is clear to see that I log on to Infinte Campus frequently to keep attendance and grades up-to-date.
b. Implements strategies supporting student, building, and district goals
Below you will find a link that connects you to multiple PBL projects that I have implemented over the last 3 years. These projects align with Bettendorf Middle School's educational goals. Also you can see a blank copy of a personal behavior/learning goal chart. My students use these to set personal goals and track their progress. This practice aligns with Individualized and Personalized Learning, which is a district initiative.
c. Uses student performance data as a guide to decsion making.
d. Accepts and demonstrates responsiblity for creating a classroom culture that supports the learning of every student.
The data above is from an assessment on fiction summaries. I tracked student performance and created a re-assessment for students who did not meet this standard with proficiency. The students’ names were removed for this portfolio. The students who were not proficient (yellow and pink) watched the video below, re-teaching the skills, and then took a re-assessment; you can see these scores in column two. Using data to drive instruction aligns with standard 1.c. Also, ensuring all students become proficient aligns with standard 1. d.
e. Creates an environement of mutual respect, rapport, and fairness.
One way that I am able to create a respectful learning environment is to have students create contracts with their table groups. These contracts ensure that students are creating an ideal learning environment and respecting one another.
f. Participates and contributes to a school culture that focuses on improved student learning.
I attended the Solution Tree PLC training in Des Moines. During this training I learned how to use data to drive student success. Furthermore, we learned how to differentiate learning for all students and create learning experiences tailored to each child. In the spring of 2017 I was trained how to facilitate a PLC meeting. The document below shows the notes that I took during the PLC training in Des Moines and the you can also find the link to Solution Tree's website.
g. Communicates with students, families, and colleagues, and communicates effectively and accurately.
Below is a link to the 7H5 blog. This blog is updated weekly with assignments and announcements, so students and parents can be aware of what is happening inside the classroom.
